Breakaway Pin Kits
he DCD Design Breakaway Pin Kits (00565-075 to 00565-250) are designed for use with 00560-010 and 00570 Breakaway Connectors, while the larger sizes (00565-300 to 00565-800) are compatible with the 00560-020 Breakaway Connector.
Initially developed for contractors installing gas ducting, these pins help protect against overload during installation, ensuring the ducting remains intact. The break value varies depending on the number of pins used, ranging from 750 lbs to 45,000 lbs. For example, using five 3,000 lb. pins together provide a total breaking load of 15,000 lbs.
Originally designed for gas ducting, their use has expanded to fiber-optic pulling, line-stringing, and marine and vehicular towing applications. To ensure optimal performance, the pins should be installed to the specified torque to avoid fatigue when loads fall below the preload value.
