Product Description
PDSCo Inc Super Mud Dry Soil Stabilizer - Dry Granular Form (DF SUPERDRY 7)
DESCRIPTION
Super Mud Dry is a granular, environmentally safe synthetic soil stabilizer designed as a bentonite alternative for drilling fluids. It rapidly increases viscosity (exceeding 100 Marsh Funnel Viscosity) and forms fish-eye structures that help seal borehole walls, reducing fluid loss and improving drilling efficiency.
ADVANTAGES
- Easily mixes with both fresh and saltwater.
- Non-toxic and non-fermenting.
- Minimizes wear on pumps and bits—unlike bentonite, Super Mud Dry slurry maintains a weight similar to water, requiring lower pump rates.
- Prevents swelling in most clay and shale formations.
- Accelerates drilling by quickly settling cuttings at the bottom of the pit.
- Effectively reduces fluid loss.
- Easily broken down for simple disposal.
MIXING PROCEDURE
- Prepare Makeup Water – Adjust the pH to 8-10 using Water Treat (1 lb per 200 gallons of freshwater or 1 lb per 100 gallons for saltwater/brackish water).
- Mixing Ratios
- Light silty soils, some clay, and clayed sand – 1 lb of Super Mud Dry per 300 gallons of treated water for a viscosity of 40+ Marsh Funnel.
- Fine to medium sand, gravel pockets, and loose-filled areas – 1 lb per 200 gallons of treated water for a viscosity of 60+ Marsh Funnel.
- pH Monitoring – As drilling conditions change, monitor and adjust pH by adding a small amount of Water Treat in the flowing ditch to maintain effectiveness.
- Reuse or Disposal – Super Mud Dry slurry can be stored for reuse or broken down with 5% Sodium Hypochlorite (household bleach) or 3% Hydrogen Peroxide at a rate of 1 quart per 200 gallons of slurry. Ensure thorough circulation for complete oxidation of polymer molecules.
