Preformed Line Products Squirrel Deterrent System (PLP SDS-005) - The Preformed Line Products Squirrel Deterrent System (SDS) is designed to prevent squirrels from accessing critical electrical infrastructure and causing service outages. Squirrels are a leading cause of wildlife-related electrical disruptions, often traveling along conductors and entering substations, switches, and transformers. In these areas, the proximity of energized components to ground potential can result in a fatal short circuit when a squirrel bridges the gap—leading to both animal fatality and equipment failure. The SDS helps protect your system by acting as a barrier to these high-risk entry points.
